As I mentioned in a previous post here, I am not one who is big on making new year’s resolutions, mainly because I always feel like I fall short in reaching them, and like most people, I usually give up on them before the month of January is over.  Recently I have become more interested in reflecting on the previous year, and setting life growth goals for the new year, which is somewhat like making resolutions, just without a specific, rigid and defined list of things to accomplish.

We all know it can be difficult to stick to resolutions.  Life, daily schedules, and many other things can often get in the way of our good intentions, so, as we get into the second full week of the new year, in today’s “Lifestyle Guide,” I thought I would share just a few tips to help you keep your new year’s resolutions or any new year’s goals in check.

Lifestyle Guide:  Keeping Your Resolutions In Check

Be Realistic – When a new year rolls around, it can be easy to get excited and over zealous about change, but we all understand that change is not easy.  So, when evaluating and tackling new years resolutions, it’s important to be realistic in setting your goals to ensure maximum success and avoid disappointment.

Get Passionate About Your Resolutions Or Goals – Being passionate about what you want to achieve is key to success.  When you are passionate about your resolutions or goals, it becomes much easier to stick to trying to reach them if and when obstacles get in the way.

Take Baby Steps – We all want to get to the finish line, see the results and reach our goals as fast as we can, but the truth is, change takes time.  Taking baby steps not only helps to increase your chances of success in achieving your resolutions and goals, but also allows you to enjoy the journey.

Surround Yourself With Supportive People – Having people around who support you, your resolutions and goals can truly be a game changer.  You will undoubtedly need encouragement and support in anything you do in life, so making sure you have a cheering squad or someone who will encourage and push you can be key to your success.

Celebrate The Small Success – As you work towards your resolutions and goals, be sure to celebrate the small successes along the way.  These successes are important steps to reaching your end goal.

I hope today’s post has given you a few ideas for keeping your new year’s resolutions in check.  For this look, I paired my Check Fur Pocket Coat, with my Black Turtleneck (old; similar here and here) and my Tapered Jeans.  I accessorized with my Black Leather Pointed Toe Bootie, and my Chanel Wallet/Bag (also here).  You can shop these items or similar items in the post, by clicking the photos below in “Shop This Post,” or by clicking the links above in “Outfit Details.”
