Every once and a while, it’s fun to get all dolled up for a black-tie formal event, and although preparing for these events can have you “fit to be black-tied”, finding your style, and expressing your style and yourself in what you wear, to me, is key to fully enjoying dressing for the event. I recently attended a conference with my husband in San Antonio, and one of the events we attended was a black-tie gala. I wore this Monique Lhuillier Sleeveless Floral-Print Ball Gown, that is truly an expression of my style, and my love of florals.
When deciding on a dress for the event, I knew I wanted a full skirt, and a floral print. A full skirt definitely represents the classic part of my style, and because I love flowers, and floral prints are popular this fall, I wanted the dress to incorporate the two. There were also a few other things about this dress that made selecting it pretty easy; the warm colors, the high-low skirt, jewel neckline, and crisscross back, definitely put this dress ahead of my other selections. I paired the dress with my Nina Elvira Satin Pumps, and added my Pyramid Crystal Minaudiere Clutch.
After a cocktail reception, formal photos, and a wonderful dinner, we danced the evening away to a fabulous live band, and enjoyed the company of old and new friends and acquaintances. It was a great evening filled with sightings of many beautiful gowns. With another black-tie event already on my calendar for next month, I’m excited to see what will be my style inspiration for the coming event.
