For me, fall is the perfect time to wear ponchos and capes. They are great for layering over lighter or heavier pieces, and to me, they are a chic and stylish way to stay warm, when temperatures start to drop. Another nice thing about ponchos and capes to me, is that they can be worn open or belted with so many different pieces, making ponchos and capes both fashionable and functional.
For this look, I paired my Loft Colorblock Fringed Poncho with my Loft Turtleneck Sweater and my ASOS Premium Leather Look Peg Pants. I accessorized with my Ann Taylor Lace Up Booties, my Louis Vuitton Pochette bag, and my Sienna Alexander London – Kensington/Melody Sunglasses that I just love. I love all of these pieces because to me, they just say fall. From the colors to the textures of each piece, I believe they are all items that can be incorporated into any fall or winter outfit. I will definitely wear this cape belted with a dress, skirt or jeans, and the ASOS leather look pants are certain to be a fall winter staple for day and even evening looks. If you are thinking of adding a poncho or cape to your wardrobe, In today’s “Style Guide,” I’m sharing a few things to consider.
Style Guide: A Few Things To Consider When Adding A Poncho Or Cape To Your Wardrobe
Color – Going with a neutral poncho or cape first can give you unlimited styling options, as they can be paired with just about any other colors in your closet.
Detail – Details like fringe or colorblock can make an ordinary poncho or cape stand out.
Variety – When adding ponchos or capes to your wardrobe, add some variety, by going with ponchos or capes with sleeves or ones with open arms. These different styles will allow you to create a variety of different looks and allow the ponchos or capes to serve different purposes.
Fabric/Design – If you find a poncho or cape that you like, and it seems like it may overwhelm your frame, don’t be intimidated…simply add a belt to lessen the look and feel of too much fabric.
