Everyone who knows me, knows how much I love my latte’s.  Whether from a neighborhood coffee shop, or my made at home versions, my morning is not truly underway without my latte.  During my travels, I’ve visited many coffee shops, and I’ve not only enjoyed various latte flavors, but I’ve fallen in love with the latte art many barista’s  have used to adorn my morning “cup of joe”.  The patterns and designs you often see in the foam topping of your coffee shop espresso or latte, is considered latte art, and now, I’ve found a way to create this lovely coffee art at home.  Now, although it may not be as picture perfect as barista latte art, it’s fun, pretty simple and easy, and perfect to use when entertaining, or when you simply want to treat yourself to some morning latte love.

For the DIY latte art shown here, you only need a few things.  I used the Aerolatte Capuccino Art Stencils, the Aerolatte Milk Frother, and ground cinnamon.  You can also use ground chocolate.  The package of stencils include six different latte art designs, I chose the heart design for today, and the milk frother takes two seconds to assemble and use.

To add some fun art to your morning latte, or to use when entertaining, here are the quick and easy steps for a single cup:

Make your latte or favorite coffee drink.

Pour 1/2 cup of milk into a microwaveable mug and heat for 30 – 45 seconds –  You may not need all of the milk for your single cup, but it’s best to have more than not enough.

Use the Aerolatte frother to create a froth – Hold the frother at a slight angle and insert the whisking head into the milk and down towards the mug’s base.  Turn the frother on for about 20 seconds, slowly stirring the whisking head from the bottom towards the top of the mug. Pour the froth over your coffee drink.

Place your latte art stencil of choice on top of your prepared coffee drink and froth – Using ground cinnamon or chocolate with a shaker dispenser, sprinkle it on top of the stencil.  A shape will be painted on the froth under the stencil’s design.

Gently lift the stencil off the top of your coffee drink  – There you will see your coffee art design.

Simply hand wash your stencil design with warm soap and water – It will be ready for your next use.
