I’ve posted quite a bit about popular clothing details like ruffles, fringe, laser cut outs, and other trends I really like, and today, I’m revisiting the ruffle detail. When we hear the word ruffles regarding clothing, it evokes thoughts of extremely frilly, sometimes overly feminine items, but the ruffles that are on trend right now, to me, have a more chic and bold appearance that doesn’t overwhelm a look, but simply adds a sense of style to the outfit.
I wore this ASOS Frill Bandeau Midi Sundress to dinner while in Oahu, and I paired it with my Nine West ‘Baebee’ Block Heel Sandal. I really like this dress because it has the added touch of the ruffle on top, but it still maintains simplicity by keeping the ruffle to just one layer. The midi length is one of my favorites because it’s a classic look that’s flattering for all body types. We all know wearing a strapless/bandeau dress can sometimes be a little tricky, and the key to wearing this look is to have a good grip on the fit. Here are a few tips that might be helpful.

Check Your Chest – Check your chest and add the proper support.
Look For Support In The Bodice – Look for a dress that maintains the shape of the upper portion of the dress, and try to avoid a strapless dress without a defined bodice.
Don’t Go Bra-Less – Wearing this dress style bra-less can add to the trickiness of this style, so be sure to wear a bra to limit any spillage and provide more shape to the dress.
Check For Slipping – Choose a dress with banding at the chest area, or when trying on a strapless dress, lift your arms to check for any over movement of the dress.
