If you follow my blog regularly, you are already familiar with my love for the midi skirt and midi dress. Just check out the fashion page here for all of my midi looks. I love the midi skirt and dress, primarily because of their very classic look, and because the length and style can be worn in so many ways, and for any occasion.
This week for me is pretty busy, and I can always count on the midi skirt to wear for anything on my calendar. For me, Monday’s are always a great day to add some color to your outfit, because color is a perfect pick up to start a new week, and it can brighten any Monday doldrums you may be feeling. I paired this pink pleated midi skirt, with this Gap black and white modern stripe crew tee, and Steve Madden ‘Proto’ pink pointy toe pumps for a look that can work all day.
Style Guide: Midi Skirt Styling Tips
If you’ve caught the midi skirt fever like me, here are a few simple tips for styling the look.
Keep The Look Balanced – Midi skirts in any style (full or fitted), will always draw attention to the lower half of your body, so it is important to keep the look balanced. For a fuller midi, wear a more fitted or tailored top, and for a fitted midi, try a looser look on top, like a loose fit, waist length crop top.
Consider The Shoe Style – Because midi skirts, depending on the style can cut off the leg, it’s a good idea to adjust your shoe style to the length of the skirt. For a longer length skirt, go for heels to elongate the legs and body. For a shorter length midi (right at or below the knee), you can go with a cute and comfy flat or a heel.
Be Color Conscious – If you are wearing a bright colored midi skirt, go simple on top, like a white/neutral colored top, or a classic striped top or tee.
Choose A Midi Style That Flatters Your Figure – If you are petite, go for a shorter length midi skirt to avoid cutting off the body too much. A taller frame, can definitely go for a longer midi.
I hope my Style Guide tips are helpful to you, and will make it easier for you to comfortably wear your midi skirt.
