One of the goals I had set for my blog last year, was to receive an invite this year to attend a show during fashion week, and this past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week.  I guess, I can now officially say that goal was achieved.  I was invited to attend the Yuna Yang show, and it was a wonderful experience.  You can learn more about this amazing designer here Yuna Yang.

Because New York Fashion Week is about both the fabulous shows and networking events, I wanted to wear something that would easily transition from event to event.  Since New York had just experienced a slight blizzard, the temperatures were quite cold, and there was still a good amount of snow on the ground.  So, as I stepped out to brave the cold temps, and attend the show and events, I decided to pair my  Olive Faux Fur Coat, with my Pink Bell Sleeve Blouse, and my Pale Pink Pants.  I added my Burgundy Lace Up Shoes, and my Gucci Mini Dionysus GG Supreme Bag.  Although, I had never been to fashion week before, I was aware that for the most part, it is all about standing out with your look, so my goal was to incorporate a standout coat with a slightly unexpected color pairing.  Even though spring is coming, and it may seem impractical to invest in a faux fur coat, this is actually the best time to find great faux fur pieces on sale.  The key is to look for classic pieces that will be in style for seasons to come.  Because faux fur is no longer considered the cheaper alternative but a luxe and equally desirable fluff, in today’s “Style Guide,” I’m sharing a few tips for buying faux fur.

Look For Quality – Pick pieces with quality details in hardware and stitching.

Pick A Good Color – If you want a chic faux fur look, go for a versatile classic color that can be worn with almost anything.

Go For A Quilted Lining – A quilted lining will ensure warmth and enhance the versatility of the piece.

Choose Pieces With Concealed Fastenings If Possible – Concealed fastenings and closures will add to the quality look and feel of the piece.
