As a blogger/influencer, there are always places to go and events to attend that are designed to help you grow and expand your business.  From happy hour gatherings, and cocktail parties, to fashion shows, meetings and brand product launches, you need to always be prepared to put an outfit together quickly.  Although, I almost always share more curated looks on my blog and social media, on most days I’m wearing athleisure wear and more casual outfits, and I plan to start sharing more of my daily looks as well in the future.  When planning any of my outfits, whether they are casual or more dressed, I have a few simple steps that I always follow.

I’ve always heard that having an organized closet is the first step in being able to easily plan outfits, but that is one step I’m still working on (smile), in fact that is definitely one of my goals as I transition my wardrobe for the spring and summer season.  Although, I’m still working on getting my closet fully organized, I can always find the pieces I need for my outfit, and I can still stick to my simple steps for putting my look together, so in today’s “Style Guide,” I’m sharing how I put my looks together quickly.

Style Guide:  How I Put My Looks Together

Decide On My Overall Look – The first step in my process is to figure out the attire for where I’m going, and what I’ll be doing, and then decide on my overall look.  I usually try to visualize what I would like the outfit to look like.

Pick One Item To Build The Look Around – The next step I take is to pick one piece, and build a look around that piece.  For the look in this post, I started with the wide leg linen pants, and built the look around the pants.

Add Accessories – As you may have noticed, I’m not a big accessory person, but when I’ve put the main pieces of the outfit together, I can always tell if it needs to be lightly or heavily accessorized.  Because there are ruffles on the top, and the pants have wide legs, I accessorized with a pair of tassel earrings, a clean ankle strap sandal, and a simple summer bag.

Try On And Review The Look – Once I have it all put together, I try it on and check it out.  If something seems off with proportions, accessories or the appropriateness for where I’m going, I make changes or start over with the look.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post, and I hope you picked up a few simple steps for quickly putting your looks together.  For this look, I paired my black Ruffle Bardot Top (also, love this one here), with my white Tailored Linen Wide Leg Pants.  I accessorized with my black Ankle Strap Sandals, and my Macrame Bag (sold out, similar here, also, love this one here).  You can shop the specific items I’m wearing as well as similar items I love, by clicking the links above in “Outfit Details,” by clicking the photos below in “Shop This Post,” and by visiting the “Shop Fashion” page here.

As always, thanks so much for reading!
