This time of year is filled with events and activities for everyone.  From graduations to weddings, luncheons and garden parties, it’s a time when all of our social calendars are full.  Attending these types of events can be much easier when you have a few go to outfits in mind that will work for almost any occasion.  For me, feminine fabrics and silhouettes work well because they are cool, classic, and very versatile.

When I found this embroidered sleeve sweater, and layered lace skirt at Ann Taylor while shopping in New York, I did not have any specific plans for wearing it, but I new that an event would come up, and I would need it as a go to outfit, and I was right.  For this particular event, I kept a neutral color pallet to not take away from the simple elegance of the embroidery on the top, and the lace bottom.  Both pieces were perfect for an indoor to outdoor event.  The sleeve length on the embroidered sleeve top was just enough for indoors but not too much for outdoors.  The layered lace skirt was light and airy, and complemented the overall soft IMG_4122tone of the look for a spring/summer event.  If your summer social calendar is filling up, here are a few tips for dressing for summer events in my Style Guide.

Style Guide:  Tips for Dressing For Summer Events

Keep It Simple:  To avoid unnecessary styling woes, and take the fun out of attending events, keep it simple.  Avoid having too many pieces in one outfit (pants, top, jacket, scarf, etc.).  A simple dress, skirt and top, or pants and top can be easy to style, and perfect to wear to any event.  The more pieces you add, the more time is involved with coordinating and styling the look.

Think Comfort:  When planning your event attire, consider the amount of time you will be at the event, and consider comfort in every aspect of your outfit.  Being comfortable from head to toe, while also looking great, always makes for a good time.

Carry A Clutch:  A simple, smaller bag, like a clutch is perfect for events.  They can be sleek and IMG_4136elegant, and are so easy to carry.

Be Weather Aware:  When planning your outfit, always be aware of the weather for your event.  Although, summer is almost officially here, temperatures can vary depending on the location of your event, and you may even want to adjust your look for outdoor events, or wear something that will transition well from indoor temperatures to outdoor weather.

I hope the tips in my Style Guide were helpful for you.  Please feel free to share any of your summer event styling tips with me in the comments section below as well.
