With summer officially just around the corner, and temperatures surely uncomfortably heating up in my area very soon, we thought we would take advantage of the relatively mild weather and have a picnic.  We have a beautiful private park and lake right in our community that we don’t visit often enough, and it was the perfect place for a picnic.

Now, what you wear to a picnic will certainly vary depending on the location, and what other outdoor activities you plan to include with your picnic, but because I had a few other things to do before our picnic in the park, I thought this Ann Taylor shirtdress and Halogen flats were perfect to make the transition from my morning errands to our picnic.  I absolutely adore this sleeveless pleated shirtdress for almost any occasion, because it can be worn with everything from flats to flip flops or wedges.  Pink is one of my favorite colors, so when I saw this dress, I knew I wanted it.  The Halogen pointy toe T-strap flats were a perfect compliment to the dress for me.  They were neutral enough to not overshadow the dress, and the studded straps gave an otherwise very feminine look a little edge and balance.  These shoes are also perfect to wear with jeans, ankle pants and even shorts.  The straw clutch was also a convenient added accessory.

For our picnic, I found the perfect picnic basket, and a great throw/blanket at Target.  The picnic basket came fully equipped with forks, knives, spoons, plates, bottle opener, and wine glasses.  We packed all of our favorites, including a variety of cheeses, crackers and toasts, as well as lots of fruit, olives and red wine.  The weather was great, and we found a spot underneath a beautiful tree right by the lake to enjoy the afternoon.  It was truly the perfect picnic.

I hope you can get some ideas from this post to plan your perfect picnic.
