Finding the perfect foundation can be very challenging. From finding the right color to finding the right coverage, I’m sure we’ve all experienced how difficult it can be to find that perfect match. The overall goal in selecting a foundation is to find one that is natural in appearance, and pretty close to being undetectable, which can be a lofty goal. I’ve personally tried many different foundations, and although I may not have yet found perfection, I have found two products that work pretty well for me in different situations.
For everyday wear, and days when I’m not fully made up, and just simply need a light coverage to add some color, I use my Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I love it because it’s multi-functional, it can be worn as a light coverage tinted moisturizer, and is buildable for slightly more coverage. It gives the skin a smooth, dewy finish, and wears well throughout the day. For those days when I need a more made up look, and for days when I will be in a variety of different lighting conditions, like the days when I’m taking photos, I tend to use my bareMinerals Ready Foundation. This foundation gives great coverage without having to apply a lot, and it’s great for minimizing skin imperfections, and it is perfect for long wear days. Both of these foundations come in a variety of hues, and they are pretty easy to apply. I use the Sephora Collection Pro Flawless Airbrush, and The Original Beautyblender sponge for my application. Since the first step to achieving a flawless makeup look is finding the perfect foundation, in today’s “Beauty Guide”, I’m sharing a few tips for picking the perfect foundation.
Beauty Guide: Tips For Picking The Perfect Foundation
When Shopping In A Department Store
Swipe three potential matches on your lower cheek or jawline.
Make sure the shades closely match your neck as well as your face.
Get a mirror and go to a window or go outside so you can see the shade in natural light.
The shade that looks most natural and that fades into your skin without having to blend it a great deal, is the one you should pick.
When Shopping In A Drugstore
The first step is to determine if you are pale, medium, or dark.
Once you’ve determined your skin tone, use the bottle shade name as a guideline.
Pale skin should lean more towards beige or buff tones.
Medium skin tones should stick with shades labeled warm, medium, or golden.
Darker skin tones have a variety of shades. To prevent a grayish cast on the skin, go for colors like tan, sable, or chestnut.
Foundation Application Tips
Use clean fingers for a more sheer natural look.
Use a sponge to get more coverage and for blending cream-to-powder or thicker liquid foundations. Be sure to tap the foundation into the skin with the sponge for an even finish.
Use a foundation brush for a heavier, more velvety finish, especially when you’re going for a more polished look.
