Top:  Ann Taylor Loft Cozy Coatigan; Ann Taylor Tie Neck Tunic Sweater

Bottom:  Express Glen Plaid Editor Ankle Pant

Shoes:  Steve Madden ‘Paigely’ Half d’Orsay Pump

Bag:  Elliott Lucca ‘Gigi Bon Bon’ Leather Bucket Bag

Sunglasses:  Kate Spade Gala Sleek Wayfarer

There are quite a few fashion looks I will probably recommend for fall, but the resurgence of plaid for autumn, has definitely moved this somewhat preppy pattern to the top of my list of recommendations.  Fall 2015 runways were full of this crisp pattern, and today I’m working with the editor, the Express Glen Plaid Editor Ankle Pant that is, and also sharing five reasons you need plaid this fall.  This classic pattern is not only very polished, but it’s also a pattern that transcends many styles, because it’s offered in a variety of colors, patterns, and fabrics.

For this outfit, I went with a more subtle and played down plaid with these Express Glen Plaid Editor Ankle Pants.  When I saw these pants, I fell in love with them because first of all they were plaid, and secondly because of the colors.  There are so many of my favorite colors woven into this plaid, including black, and off white, that I could immediately imagine so many things I already had to wear with them from a black blazer to an off-white chunky sweater, to grays of any kind like in today’s post.  For this look, I went with this gray Ann Taylor Tie Neck Tunic Sweater and my gray Ann Taylor Loft Cozy Coatigan, that I feel like I will wear all fall and winter.  I decided to pull in one of fall’s hottest colors with my burgundy Steve Madden ‘Paigely’ Half d’Orsay Pump, and my Elliott Lucca ‘Gigi Bon Bon’ Leather Bucket Bag. Lastly, I grabbed my favorite classic sunnies, my Kate Spade Gala Sleek Wayfareres.

Now, because I’m loving plaid so much, you will probably see it on the blog more this fall and winter, and if for some reason you’ve been on the fence about plaid in the past, in today’s “Style Guide”, I’m sharing five reasons you need plaid this fall.

Style Guide: 5 Reasons You Need Plaid This Fall

Plaid Is Perfect For Any Style:  You don’t have to be preppy to pull of plaid.  From grunge to rocker to classic and more traditional styles, you can definitely incorporate plaid into your look.

Plaid Is Great For Any Occasion:  Regardless of where you will be wearing it, plaid can be worn for any occasion.  You can find plaid dresses, skirts, pants, tops, and much more that will work well for wherever you might be going.

Plaid Is Perfect For Outerwear:  Plaid coats and jackets are perfect to have in your clothing arsenal.  When you want to add a little extra style to your look, throw on a plaid coat or jacket and give your outfit a plaid style punch.

Plaid Makes Awesome Accessories:  From scarves to hats and even bags, plaid accessories are everywhere, and they can easily be added to any outfit or look.

Plaid Is Great For Layering:  Layering is such a big trend this fall, and plaid items are perfect for layering.  They can add a little variety and color to a neutral pallet outfit, and it can be layered under or over almost any item in your closet.

I hope these “Style Guide” tips will inspire you to try some very popular plaid this fall.
