It’s no secret I’m loving capes, ponchos, and scarves this season.  To me, they are that one versatile fall/winter piece that can be worn in many ways, and that compliments any look, for any event or occasion.  In my post earlier this week, I shared my favorite blanket scarf here, and today, I’m featuring another item I’m wrapping up in this season, the poncho, and sharing a few tips on how to perfectly style a poncho.  Poncho’s are one of my favorites, because they are warm, one-size fits all, and they are a never too tight fall/winter closet staple.

For this look, I paired this Loft Colorblock Poncho, with my Loft Relaxed Turtleneck Sweater, and my Loft Flare Jeans.  I added my Steve Madden Fringly sandals, and my Floto Saddle Bag to finish off the outfit.  This vibrant colored poncho, to me, is perfect for fall/winter months, because it’s heavy enough to wear alone over a sweater on a cool fall day, and it’s lightweight enough to layer over jackets and coats during winter months when you may need an extra layer, or just want to add a little more style to your jacket or coat.  I also love this Loft turtleneck sweater because it’s really soft and warm, and the refined style makes it perfect for wearing with everything from jeans to a work skirt.  These Loft flare jeans have really become my go-to denim, because they’re not only on trend, but the flare is not overdone, or overwhelming, adding a clean and classic feel to any outfit.  To me, the versatility of poncho’s are truly underrated, so in today’s “Style Guide”, I thought I would share a few ways to perfectly style a poncho.

Style Guide:  How To Perfectly Style A Poncho

Put A Belt On It – For a chic and pulled together look, belt your poncho, and add a pair of flare legs jeans or flare pants for a look that is not only stylish, but balanced in proportions.

Hang Loose – For an easy effortless look, wear your poncho loose and unbelted, and pair it with a pair of skinny jeans or pencil pants.  This is another look that balances scale and proportion from top to bottom, and gives your outfit full on style.

Drape Over A Dress – Pair your poncho with an above or at the knee dress for a polished and sophisticated look.  Be careful not to wear the poncho with a dress that is too full or too long to keep the outfit in proportion and not overwhelming.

Pair Your Poncho With Distressed Denim – For a cool, casual and on point look, pair your poncho with a pair of distressed jeans.  Add a pair of flats for a more relaxed on the go outfit, or add a classic pointed toe pump for a statement making style.

I hope these “Style Guide” tips have given you some ideas on how to perfectly style a poncho.
