When you see a sweater this time of year, you probably instantly break into a sweat, because it just may seem a little too soon, but, as I mentioned in my post earlier this week here, now is a great time to start planning and shopping for pieces to add to your fall wardrobe.  Fall is not only a great time for lightweight sweaters, it’s also a great time to mix fabrics for a visually appealing look.

2743-2 (1 of 1)2746-3 (1 of 1)L1002748L1002739L1002724Because I’m always cold by nature, I’m actually very comfortable wearing sweaters in the evenings this time of year, especially when dining out.  For this out to dinner look, I wore my Style Mafia Stellar Sweater, paired with my Banana Republic Stripe Wide Leg Pants.  I accessorized with my Steve Madden Natural Stecy Sandal, and my burgundy Elliott Lucca Bucket Bag.  For me this look worked well for an evening look, and the lightweight sweater definitely helped with the chill in the restaurant.  Combining fabrics in one look can be fun, and can definitely expand your outfit options when transitioning seasons, so in today’s “Style Guide,” I’m sharing a few tips on mixing fabrics for fall.

Style Guide:  How To Mix Fabrics For Fall

Pick Contrasting Fabrics – Go with fabrics that flow well together and that do not stand out as being too different.

Choose Colors That Coordinate – When mixing fabrics it’s a good idea to keep the look fluid with coordinating colors.

Try Mixing Textures With Patterns – Don’t be afraid to mix textures with patterns, this will give your look even more style and appeal.

Stay With Similar Styles – When mixing fabrics, be sure to keep your look consistent in style.  A classic piece regardless of the fabric, will always work well with another classic piece.

I hope these tips can guide you in mixing fabrics during fall or any season.  You can shop the items in this post by clicking the links above in “Outfit Details”, or you can visit the Shop Fashion Page here.  Also, you can shop Lulu With Grace partner sales and promotions here.  New partner sales and promotions have recently been added.

    Thanks so much for reading!
