I really love those days when the to-do lists are non-existent, and you’re just coasting through the day as if you’re actually in neutral gear.  It seems on those days, you notice things you may have passed a thousand times, and you are able to take in and appreciate your surroundings.  It’s been said that colors in clothing, home decor, and even architecture are forms of non-verbal communications, and this day, I was definitely coasting in neutral gear in more ways than one.  I’ve visited the Piazza In The Village, a venue near my home, in all of it’s neutral architecture glory, on many occasions, and today was a great day to explore it more and truly admire how lovely it is.

L1000254I’ve read that cool colors like neutrals are said to have a calming affect, and thought to be comforting and nurturing.  That may be why I like them so much, and why they are quickly invading my closet.  For this neutral palette look, I wore my Topshop Reverse Lapel Belted Coat with my Madison & Berkeley Oversized Turtleneck Tunic.  I paired them with my GAP 1969 Sexy Boyfriend Jeans, my Topshop Python Bootie, and my BR crossbody bag.  This day in neutral gear was definitely a laid back one, and certainly brought my attention to how the colors on or around you can impact your day and your outlook.  In addition to the possible mood altering effects of neutrals, another bonus of incorporating neutral colors into your wardrobe is that they can be easily paired with other bolder, warmer colors in your closet when you want to mix things up a bit.

I hope you find some time to coast a little in neutral gear, be it clothing, a slow pace or both…You’ll be surprised by the fresh outlook you will have.
