When it comes to my wardrobe, for many reasons, I am a big fan of faux fur pieces.  I have incorporated many faux fur pieces into my wardrobe ranging from jackets, coats, scarves, stoles, and even bags, and I love that there are so many faux fur options available these days.  Although, I may enjoy faux pieces in my wardrobe, when it comes to the way that I live my life, I truly try to be as authentic as I possibly can be.

So, what exactly does living an authentic life mean…for me personally, it means being true to myself in my daily life and activities, and being truly connected to my values, and living a life of purpose in line with those values.  By most definitions of authenticity, authenticity begins with the intention of being genuine, and a commitment to remain this way even when it’s easier not to be.  When you include this type of self-awareness in your daily life, making decisions are easier because you are aware of who you truly are, and you are comfortable choosing things that are in line with your core personal values. You are able to easily accept your imperfections, because you can accept who you are, as well as embrace your many talents and abilities.

In full disclosure, this is an area in my life that I am constantly working on.  As a blogger, it can be easy to try to conform to what others expect you to be, rather than who you truly are, so I try to approach each day with an awareness of what my values are, and an intention of living those values both personally and professionally.  So, in my personal pursuit of creating and living an authentic life, I picked up 5 tips that I try to use, and that I thought might also be helpful to my readers.  Here are the tips I picked up.

5 Ways To Create An Authentic Life:

Reevaluate Your Values – Often times we are stuck in living the values we learned growing up, which is not a bad thing, but as we grow, we often need to reevaluate and expand these values to conform with who we have become, and who we are today.

Be Self Aware – Take time to observe yourself, and take notice when you feel comfortable with who you are, and when you feel like you are living in someone else’s skin.  Stick to those things that make you most comfortable with who you are.

Don’t Be Perfect – Being perfect is impossible, and trying to be perfect is disingenuous in itself.  Simply try to be you.  Be accepting of who you are, and try not to be concerned with what others think about who you are.

Notice When You Are Not Being Genuine – This is another aspect of self awareness.  Take note of when you are insincere, and not living your core values, and quickly correct course.

Trust Your Gut – Listening to your intuition, being in touch with yourself, and knowing when things just don’t feel right, or when you feel out of sync with who you truly are, is a great tool to help you reassess, and come back to your authentic self.

I hope today’s post has given you a good look at this faux fur jacket, and also provided you with a few ideas living an authentic life.  For today’s look, I paired my faux fur jacket (also, love this one here), with my off white chenille sweater , and my cuffed jeans (sold out, similar here and here).  I accessorized with my skin print pumps (old, similar here) and my Gucci bag.  You can shop the items or similar items in this post, by clicking the links above in “Outfit Details,” by clicking the photos below in “Shop This Post”, or you can visit the Shop Fashion Page here.
