Stripes have always been one of my favorite patterns, because by fashion standards, at this point, they are basically considered neutrals.  Stripes are always in style and they are very versatile, so adding them to your wardrobe and styling them can be simple and easy.  These lovely lines can take on many interpretations from diagonal to straightforward, so whatever your personal preference, if you like this pattern, you can definitely  find your perfect striped piece.

Although, I love stripes in every iteration when it comes to fashion, I personally am not one who necessarily colors inside the lines in my approach to life as an adult.  There is a quote that I love that says ” Life is so much more interesting when you color outside the lines,” and I could not agree more.  When we were young, and coloring in our coloring books, we were all encouraged to choose the right colors , and to be sure to color inside the lines, which is fine as a child, but as an adult, for me, coloring inside the lines when it comes to the way I live my life, can mean not being unique, not bending the rules and doing what’s safe, totally the opposite of what I feel allows me to live a full and interesting life.  Some of the ways I try to color and live outside the lines are below.

How I Color Outside The Lines:

Not Striving For Perfection – To me, perfection is unattainable, and should never be a goal.  I believe in being proud of who I am, flaws and all, and working on the things I want to change for me and my standard, not the opinions of others.

Always Being Creative – I believe, trying to fit in and conform will always stunt your creativity.  Your personal creativity should always be on full display, as it is what makes you unique, and allows you to stand out.

Stepping Outside Of My Comfort Zone – For me, I am never limited by what makes me feel comfortable.  In fact, I embrace those things that make me feel uncomfortable, and I make sure I step on or walk through any uncomfortable barriers to feel strong and empowered.

Embracing Adventure – Life is full of opportunities to explore and try new things, and I never shy away from exploring new things in life.  You never know what you can learn or how you can grow from a new adventure unless you try.

I hope you enjoyed reading about how I color outside the lines.  If you have some ways that you color outside the lines in your life, and you would like to share them, please feel free to share them below in the comments section.  I would love to hear from you.  For today’s look, I paired my stripe off the shoulder top, with my stripe side split wide leg pants, and I added my color block mules and bamboo bag as accessories.  You can shop the items in this post, by clicking the links above in “Outfit Details,” by clicking the photos below in “Shop This Post”, or you can visit the Shop Style Page here.
