To me, personal style is all about wearing what you like, not just what’s in, and doing it in a way that connects and identifies with who you really are. Finding your personal style can be an ever evolving journey, and that journey begins with fully understanding the style that speaks to you.

Sometimes going through a style journey can feel like you’re trying to in some way find yourself in the process, and to a certain extent, this is true. During a style journey, you are really trying to find a style that not only expresses who you are, but who you want to be. In today’s “Style Guide,” I’m sharing four tips for finding your own style.

Style Guide: 4 Tips For Finding Your Own Style

Create A Basic Foundation Of Pieces That Feel Like You – From tops and tees to pants, skirts and jeans, identify different styles in each category that feel like you, and always keep them on hand in your wardrobe.

Identify Your Go-To Pieces – Find the pieces that you always gravitate to in your wardrobe, and use them as a first clue to what style speaks to you. Then, use these items to build on.

Avoid Feeling Confined To One Style – Once you identify a style that speaks to you based on your go-to pieces, don’t feel obligated to just stick to that style. Combine a classic piece with an on trend accessory, or vice versa, to create your own unique style.

Discover Your Style And Find Inspiration From Outside Sources – Check out magazines, blogs, and online boards like Pinterest to find looks that inspire you, and that look and feel like you, and begin styling similar looks for yourself.
