If you’re finding yourself getting a little bored with some pieces in your wardrobe, and you are looking for ways to “Style it Up,” and make certain items more fashion forward, adding a pop of print or texture can do the trick. Last week, I played with a pop of color, and this week, I’m adding a pop of print…animal print that is. If you’ve been reading my blog since its inception, you have surely been introduced to my love for leopard print, and today I’ll share how adding a print of any kind can make an outfit pop.
Here’s how adding a print can make any outfit pop:
1. A print refreshes an outfit – Adding a pop of print can quickly refresh a basic outfit, and make something old look new and stylish.
2. A print makes an outfit interesting – When you think of a well put together outfit, most of us think of similar colors, basic styles, and very little prints or patterns. Well, when looking to make a basic outfit fabulous, think just the opposite, and add a pop of print. The print not only makes an outfit more interesting, it uses the basic pieces as an anchor to give the outfit a pulled together look.
3. A print makes a fashion statement – When styling an outfit, our goal is to make the outfit look current and fashionable. Adding a print will not only make an outfit standout, but when done at a level that reflects your personal style, it will also demonstrate some fashion savvy, and give your look a greater sense of style.
4. A print can make an outfit look expensive – When putting an outfit together, we all want it to look great, without breaking the bank. Adding a print to an outfit can give it the appearance of costing more than it actually did because prints can have a designer look and feel, and they can easily pass for designer pieces.
As I mentioned earlier in this post, and in previous posts, one of my favorite prints is leopard print. The print is classic and chic, and it can be worn in a variety of ways, with a variety of colors. The great thing about leopard print is that it can easily be considered a neutral for styling purposes, while still giving your outfit that head turning appeal.
In my look today, I paired this spring leopard print coat/topper that I simply love, with the blush strapless jumpsuit for an event. The leopard print coat is just perfect for this time of year, and the fabric is great for even wearing on a cool summer night thrown over the shoulder. The thing I love most about the leopard coat/topper is it’s versatility. I can definitely wear the coat/topper with a dress, skirt, pants, and jeans. The jumpsuit is also a favorite item in my closet. It’s comfortable and easy to wear, because it requires no additional styling other than adding a necklace if you like. It can be worn with heels for a more dressed look, or with flats for a more casual feel. Lastly, I added another print with the shoes. A very subtle, neutral snake print shoe was easy to add to this outfit to keep a pop of print going once the coat/topper was removed.
